I strongly encourage people to work with each other in the warmup assignments before committing to form a kernel team. (Again, "work with" means working together at a high level and not share code or write code together.) Once a kernel team is formed and kernel 1 has started, the only way to break up a team is when every team member agrees to the breakup (I cannot force a team to breakup). Also, it will be nearly impossible to join another kernel team at that point.
