Rowcalls - CSCI 570, Fall 2013, Both Sections

Starting with the 4th week of class, a rowsheet will be available on the table in front of the class. Please sign in as soon as you get into class. If you arrive way too late or leave way too early, you will receive no credit for the day.

[BC: paragraph added 9/12/2013] Since everyone starts to get quite busy during the last 3 weeks of classes, you will get participation extra credit for the last 3 weeks of classes automatically (i.e., no rowsheets during the last 3 weeks of classes).

If you do not arrive late and you do not leave early, you will receive full credit for the lecture. If you arrive late, you forfeit half of the credit. Please check the late box on the rowsheet. If you leave early, you forfeit half of the credit. Please also check the late box on the rowsheet. If you arrive late and leave early, please remove your signature from the rowsheet.

• Arriving way too late means that you arrive 30 minutes beyond the official start of class time.
• Leaving way too early means that you leave 15 minutes before the officient end of class time.

• Arriving late (but not way too late) means that you arrive 10 minutes beyond the official start of class time but not way too late.
• Leaving early (but not way too early) means that you leave 5 minutes before the officient end of class time but not way too early.

In case you have to leave early but you did not get a chance to modify the rowsheet, please send an e-mail to the instructor afterwards and ask to have your signature removed from the row sheet (or check the late box). If this is not done soon after class is over, it would be considered as cheating for class participation and you will get no extra credit at all for class participation (i.e., you will lose the entire 3%).

Since class participation is extra credit, if you miss the class for whatever reason (including sickness or family emergency), you will not get credit for the class (unless you send me a documented proof of sickness or family emergency).
