News
(in reversed chronological order)
  • 11/11/2009: Office hour today has been canceled. Sorry abou the inconvenience and the short notice.

  • 9/30/2009: Office hour for Thursday 10/1/2009 has been moved to Friday 10/2/2009 from 1:30pm to 2:30pm. Sorry abou the inconvenience.

  • 9/10/2009: Please read the following carefully regarding the CS 558L lab timeslots lottery.

Since we can still have students register for our class at the last minute, I have no choice but to do the lottery after the registra's office is closed, which is at 5pm, Friday, 9/11/2009.

    1. Please make sure that you have registered for the class mailinglist. This is *not* the same as the class Google Group. If you have not done so, please go to:
      http://merlot.usc.edu/cs558-f09/mailinglist.html
      and provide your information there.

The deadline for this is 2pm on Friday, 9/11/2009.

    2. If you have registered for the class mailinglist, you can go to the lottery page and login there (using the password that was mailed to you when you registered for the class mailinglist).

Click on the "submit" link to enter your "lottery entries". Then click on the Submit button.

You don't really have to do this because by default, your login ID will be used as your lottery entries.

    3. Click on the "exercise 1" link to enter your timeslot preferences for exercise 1. Please read the instructions carefully. Also, please do not just specify your top 6 choices because most likely you won't get your top choices. Please specify as many as possible (up to 123 choices). Click on the Submit button to save.

    4. Soon after 6pm on Friday, 9/11/2009, I will close the lottery. If you did not do (3) above, you will only get to choose from the left over timeslots.

By the way, although I said that I'm "closing the lottery at 6pm", it really means that I'm going to close the lottery some time after 6pm on Friday, 9/11/2009!

So, if you see that you can still make modifications after 6pm, consider yourself lucky and you can just go ahead and do it. You don't need my permission to make changes.

  • 9/1/2009: The instructor has a doctor's appointment in the morning of Thursday, 9/3/2009. The office hour for 9/3/2009 has been canceled. If you would like see him during class time on 9/3/2009, please make an appointment for a different time. Sorry abou the inconvenience.

  • 8/25/2009: Office hour for Wednesday 8/26/2009 has been canceled. Sorry abou the inconvenience.

  • 8/24/2009:
    • If a student signs up late for this class or could not be present at the beginning of the semester, he/she is still required to turn all assignments on time or he/she will receive a score of 0 for these assignments. No exceptions!

    • Due to limited space and equipment in the laboratory, the class can only accomodate a small number of students (less then or equal to 24). If you have a strong interest to the class, prepare to register early. If you are on the waiting list, the CS Department will give out D-clearance according to the order on the list.

    • If you haven't done so, please register with the class mailing list. You are required to register with the class mailing list. (You do not have to be registered for the course to register with the class mailinglist.) In the registration confirmation e-mail, you will also get your user ID and password for accessing protected area of this web site.

    • Watch this area for important announcements.
